2013's Most Popular Look - Megan Lynne Floral Design

Each year, there is such a variety of great styles and bouquets booked at Megan Lynne Floral Design. Formal, traditional, wildflower, exotic, we seem to have seen it all. There is often a most popular look for each season, one that we find ourselves recreating for many brides throughout the season, in several different ways. In 2011, it was purple, LOADS and loads of purple. 2012, it was roses galore.

This year, pretty has all the power. Soft, blush pinks, petally textures, loose form and delicate, subtle greens. The garden-inspired bouquets seem to be taking the lead in the weddings we have booked for this season.

They are beautiful for so many reasons. They are classic, feminine and delicate, perfect for any wedding. We can't get enough of the great varieties of this look and the finishing touches for each wedding.

Call Megan Lynne Floral Design today to set up a consultation for you big day and let's see which style is your favorite!

Emerald

Over February I headed back home to New Zealand. And while it was mainly for a bit of r&r, and time with friends and family, I was thrilled to be shooting my first wedding of 2013, in my home town of Tauranga.

As most of you will know, Emerald is the Pantone colour for 2013, and I was so excited to see it incorporated at Jess & Anton's wedding.

Jess chose Emerald for her bridesmaid dresses. Each dress had a slightly different style, but the look was tied together through the colour and fabric. The girls looked gorgeous, and I must say, I just love chiffon. I think it is such an elegant fabric, and looks so lovely when it blows in the wind. Jess also incorporated touches of emerald within her bouquets and decorations, tying it in with browns and creams to reflect a natural palette.

Leave the Video to the Pros!

With the advent of digital cameras shooting  HD videos anyone can try their hand at being a cameraman, editor and producer but  just like we recommend having a professional do your photos, hair, make-up, stationery and flowers we also recommend that you have a professional document your day in video.  Or in this case three professionals!  Meet Paperback Films.
We find that the Paperback experience totally fits with how we view weddings and they add such a fun element to the day which is exactly why we love working together with them!

"Every couple's wedding is unique; from every emotional and exciting moment to the next. We value our couples and truly want to create a film that speaks to who they are, being just as unique as they are. We're there to capture those moments and weave every meaningful part into a story that ultimately becomes an expression, a memory, and a celebration of each couple. It takes a little participation, excitement, vision and heart to create these films and we'd love to invite you to share that experience with us."
     - Steve, Mark and Chris - Paperback Films

We have had the opportunity to work with these men on a number of occasions and just want to share a few of these videos today!  The first video was a Same Day Edit - shot and edited on the wedding day to show at the reception.  It's such a fun experience getting to watch a Same Day Edit live a wedding...there's not usually a dry eye in the house when the video stops rolling!
Enjoy!

Eclectic.Casual

1. Exquisite Visit
2. The Mo-Mint Is Yours
3. Dancing Darling

1. Rachel's Smile Be There
2. Filled With Merri-Mint
3. Sweet As Lemon Squares
4. Don't Make Me Blush
5. Gazebo Gala
6. Only Thyme Will Tell

I happened upon the first photo earlier this week... and couldn't help but think of all the ways a bouquet like this could translate into an inspirational palette.  It's both casual and eclectic.  The perfect palette for a rustic barn, or country setting; yet equally perfect for a beach affair, or..., or... (I think you get where I'm going with this).
The idea of bridesmaids in different, cute little matchy-mismatchy dresses is really up my alley.  Especially if they're short and sweet like these options from ModCloth - TRULY something your lady friends will want to wear again.
I do realize that mint and coral is the colour combination du jour, but don't limit yourself to trends.  This concept works with any piece of multi-hued inspiration... a fabric swatch, a landscape, a painting... you name it.  But if you're looking for a can't-miss combo, nature is the place to start.  There are endless flowery palettes to be found.

Happy Planning all you brides-to-be... and Happy Friday to the rest of y'all!

P.P.S. I happen to know a gal who could easily create these sorts of mint and coral hued bouquets (isn't that right, Meg?!)
